American Spoon Sour Cherry Preserves

american spoon sour cherryFrom the home of the Petoskey Rock, one of which The Lady found on the shore of Michigan’s Traverse Bay many years ago (BFF… Before Feline Foodie), comes American Spoon Food.

This company was founded in 1982 when two foodie friends who had been sharing foraged foods from Northern Michigan decided to produce preserves from the bounty of Michigan summers. Their first preserve was made from local “early glow” strawberries and had so much whole fruit, it was called a spooning preserve because it was better served using a spoon than a knife.

Recently The Lady brought home a jar of their Sour Cherry Preserves which she served as the “sweet” side of the Klaverkaas Pancake she made for The Man and Moi a few days ago. It was an amazing pairing with the Gouda’s vanilla custard flavor… simply luscious as Miss Anne would say…klaverkaas with American Spoon Sour Cherry Preserves

These preserves are packed with whole cherries that do indeed need spooning as opposed to spreading. The taste is reminiscent of a summer The Lady spent with her grandparents in Grayling, Michigan… during the cherry season… sweet with just a touch of tart…

She also served it over Vanilla Ice Cream and The Man swooned to the point of almost falling over…

I give American Spoon Sour Cherry Preserves 4 Paws out of 4 Paws (cause that’s all I’ve got).
