(WUSA) — The scope of a new restaurant menu item is amazing: a hamburger resting in between two grilled cheese sandwiches. Of course, this monstrosity also comes with 1,500 calories and 97 grams of fat.
The dish is called the “Grilled Cheese BurgerMelt” and it’s available at Friendly’s. The restaurant’s menu hails it as “tasting is believing.” Beyond the burger and double grilled cheese, it includes mayonnaise, lettuce, and tomato.
According to Friendly’s nutritional information page, the massive burger comes with 1,500 calories – 870 of them from fat. There are 38 grams of saturated fat in the 97 grams of fat overall. It comes with 180 milligrams of cholesterol, 2090 mg of sodium, and 101 grams of carbohydrates. It does have 9 grams of dietary fiber and 54 grams of protein.
Compare that to the USDA’s recommended daily intake of 2,000 calories for the whole day, along with 65 grams of fat, 2,400 grams of sodium, and 300 milligrams of cholesterol.
