A triangle wedge of Excalibur English Cheddar was a gift The Lady brought me last month when she returned from visiting Miss Anne, The Tall Guy and the Late, Great Hemingway, RIP.
Imported by Atlanta Foods International, Excalibur is a young English Cheddar with a mild taste. It’s a decent cheese; but I prefer more aged and biting cheddars that put hair on your chest. The Lady served it on a cheese board but it would do better if used in a mac n cheese recipe combined with cheeses that have more character and flavor.
Please don’t get me wrong, this is a good cheese; but it’s not a great cheese.
I give Excalibur English Cheese 2 Paws out of 4 Paws (cause that’s all I’ve got).
Serving Suggestions: I think this cheese would do better in cooking rather than snacking. If you added a nice grilled boneless breast of mus musculus, your mac n cheese would really zing…
Wine Pairing: A nice merlot or pinot noir.
Beer Pairing: You can never go wrong pairing a cheddar with a pale ale.
