Daelia’s Food, which makes those tasting Crackers for Cheese, has released their latest cracker creation and sent some to moi to taste.
The Lady paired them with Jeffs’ Select Gouda, a 4 Paw-designated Cheese that we reviewed yesterday.
The first we tasted was the Pilsner Cracker; light in color with sprinkles of sea salt across the top. These crackers, made with light rye flour, are crunchy, buttery and just a hint of beer, enough to know it’s there without taking over the flavor of the cracker. This was the cracker that paired better with Jeffs’ Select Gouda, blending the flavors of the cheese and the cracker in a terrific combination.
The Porter Cracker is made with dark rye flour and has caraway seeds added which make it reminiscent of pumpernickel breads that I enjoyed on past deployment in Eastern Europe when breads were made locally and only of the best ingredients… these crackers brought back fond memories. I’m not sure I could taste the Porter but there was a slight after tang that might be from the beer; a little sour and satisfying.
The Lady plans to use these crackers as the base for our next open-faced grilled cheese creation… stay tuned.
If you’re serving cheese and beer, these crackers are sure to be a hit!!!
I give these Daelia’s Beer Flats 3 Paws out of 4 Paws (cause that’s all I’ve got).
FTC Full Disclosure – The cheesemaker/manufacturer sent me their product, hoping I would review the product/cheese.
