Oregon Blue Blue Cheese Dressing and Dip

I have posted several blue cheese dressing recipes over the years but I am always looking for different (and better) ways to prepare The Man’s favorite salad topping… after all… even for cooks, it is often the journey…

Today I discovered a recipe claiming to be “The Best Blue Cheese Dressing” at thekittchen.com. I can’t attest to its superlative claim (because I didn’t have two of its ingredients) but I did enjoy the commentary and photos of various ways to grace food with the dressing. And I did use Kit’s ingredient list as the basis for this one.

I made Wedges, despite the in-the-know foodanistas at Instagram claiming “Wedge salad is soooo passé”. It is The Man’s favorite salad and that’s all that matters here at The Manse.

Here is what I did.

Ingredients:

I used a mini food processor to create a creamy dressing rather than a crumbly one. If you prefer crumbly, mix by hand.

1 Wedge of Rogue Creamery Oregon Blue crumbled a little for easier processing

1/2 Cup Heavy Cream

1/2 Cup Whole Milk

1/2 Cup Mayo

2 Tablespoons Dry Buttermilk Cultures

2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice

1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder

1/2 Teaspoon Black Pepper

2 Teaspoons Nutritional Yeast.

Preparation:

Blend all ingredients to desired creaminess.

Chill in fridge for several hours or overnight.

Clean up after yourself.

The Man, aka Peter M. Wright, has written his first novel: Gold Fever, available at amazon.com as a kindle book for only $2.99.

Written in the flavor of one of our favorite movies, Romancing the StoneGold Fever is a romantic adventure that brings together an archeologist looking to establish his name in his field and a rock star on the verge of burn-out.

In GOLD FEVER  an Archeologist motivated by a newly discovered clue, searches for a fabled Native American Legend – the long ago lost Seven Golden Cities of Cibola. While the Archeologist seeks to prove the legend is actually true, he is constantly under attack by a second group seeking the treasure.

The Man is currently writing a sequel to Gold Fever. Gold Fever and his non-fiction books are available through Amazon’s lending library.
